Pinoy Idol Final 3 - Final Performance Night 08/16/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Who should win?

Ram Chaves

He is not the best singer in the group, nor the most exceptional performer, but Ram is my Pinoy Idol. I am basing my conclusion not on the performances tonight, but on the journey they have been through the past months. He arranges and owns every song he performs; he has been strongly consistent since day one; and he has the outstanding talent in singing.

Can we call that the Final Performance Night? I don't know. While watching, I somewhat felt watching a nonsense show that is in between SOP and Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Finals. The net and wind effect on the opening number? My God! It's even cheaper than having mascots on stage.

So they have managed to pull off a live show? Well, it's quite impressive. But the thing is, the show is all about the battle of the remaining Idol hopefuls, yet it seemed like it was a variety show which offered a lot of guests which outshone the so-called Final 3. I'm not against any of them, but the Final 3 has to sing 3 songs which should be long enough in order for them to prove worthiness of the title! They sang 3 songs - in below 2 minutes! I think the whole show looked sandwiched! Ram, Jayann and Gretchen did not have the best opportunity tonight to prove they are the first Pinoy Idol - I can't consider it as a finale either.

The cheap opening number; the spoiled performances of the Final 3; the judges commenting only on the last part; Karylle and Rhian doing again the job of Raymond; too much guests for the performance night instead on the results show; Louie Ignacio. Who's to blame? Magic wasn't present on Pinoy Idol's finale performance night.

This is the reason why Mau Marcelo won Philippine Idol; for all the people behind Pinoy Idol, watch and learn - envy if you may:

Pinoy Idol Final 5 - 'My Greatest Idol Performance' Week 7 08/09/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: My Greatest Idol Performance

Who owned the night?

Kid Camaya with Careless Whisper

Who should be the Final 3?

Kid Camaya

Jayann Bautista

Ram Chaves

Need I elaborate more? Among the remaining hopefuls, these three can really express singing prowess, exceptional talent, and hype performance. Star material is not only based on looks, so the viewing public should vote for these three.

THOUGHTS

Last performance night - same old crap on the show. Lights, editing, audio failures. I'm glad they're really jumping to finale already by next week. I can't stand this anymore. Next season should be done a lot better GMA.

The judges said their final appeal to the audience. Hope it works for tomorrow's elimination results.

So that was the greatest "Idol" performance of the final 5? Well, it was boring. Only Kid wowed me - except for that falsetto.

Pinoy Idol Final 6 - 'Premier Balladeer Basil Valdez as Mentor' Week 7 08/02/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: Premier Balladeer Basil Valdez's Week

Who owned the night?

Kid Camaya with Paano Ba Ang Mangarap

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Warren Antig

Daryl Celis

Jayann Bautista

Jayann was quite good actually, but having bad comments from the judges at this time of the competition, it would be crucial. Daryl's back in the bottom group, but he was no worse than Warren. Look, this guy has been murdering a lot of songs already since Top 24 - mentioning them here would be worthless. He should go home - even earlier than some of the previous booted out hopefuls. Kudos to Kid! I had goosebumps. I was entertained by Ram and was touched by Gretchen.

THOUGHTS

Editing is way cleaner than the previous episodes, as well as the audio. Lighting is still the same. Glad there were no other "hosts" and unpleasant "creatures" such as mascots at the venue this time. There have been recaps since last week - that's good.

Basil Valdez comments just like Wyngard - he was not afraid to tell Warren he was saddened by what he did.

The booted out hopefuls from Top 24 were present at the gala night. But I must admit that watching this show wouldn't be as exciting as before having Mae, Robby, and Penelope in it. Hope the big surprise tomorrow would really be a surprise.

Pinoy Idol Final 7 - 'Rock-rakan: Pinoy OPM Bands as Mentors' Week 6 07/26/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: Rock-rakan: Pinoy OPM Bands' Week

Who owned the night?

Jayann Bautista with Akin Ka Na Lang

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Gretchen Espina

Ram Chaves

Warren Antig

It's the Rock week, so I expected that the remaining rockers in the competition will really step their games up tonight and wow everyone. Unfortunately, they did not. Gretchen has the attempt, her performance was nearly there - but she failed vocally. Ram as expected sounded good, but it was plain, and the performance was really short that the spark was lost. Warren, however, murdered yet another song. He doesn't deserve the vote. Props for Daryl for making it really big tonight! I was really astounded for what he did!

THOUGHTS

Since the show began, tonight's gala performance has the cleanest audio yet - thanks Warren for last week's query! The singers were really heard clearly throughout each performance. However, the lights and editing are still the same. And Karylle was there again! For heaven's sake, give the floor to Raymond - for hosting is his job.

Week after week, Wyngard is booed by fans from the audience. That's really cool! Ogie still gives the best comments. Jolina? Never mind..

Like the other episodes, there were again awkward moments. Direk, did I really see Jollibee mascots behind the judges? And why were the bands standing at the corner of the stage? But unlike weeks ago, tonight's gala performance was indeed enjoyable.

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Warren Antig

Toffer Rei

Gretchen Espina

Warren murdered the song. Nothing more, nothing less to say. Toffer looked and sounded trying hard - it lessened the appeal of his performance. Gretchen actually started quite well, but it got boring and boring and boring. I'm actually surprised that Daryl's not in my list tonight - for I was surprised on how good he was in this week's gala night! I'm seeing a potential Jan Nieto, remember him?

THOUGHTS

The lights and the editing again are the biggest crap in this show. It's so colorful that it hurts the eyes, yet the show is squeezed in a very short time span that it really looks somewhat in a rush. Mr. Ignacio, are you there? I saw Karylle again - only twice. Why was she there? She shouldn't be there!

Jaya should've been the female judge in this show - she uttered significant and helpful comments tonight that really outshone Jolina's. Wyngard is still booed by fans - love it! Such an Idol classic!

So the first two music videos were shown tonight - who was the director? The first one's a crap - with awkwardness on every blockings and the lack of headrooms. The second one's better, both vocals and visuals - but still amateurish. But I must admit, I enjoyed this gala night compared to last week's. Kudos Jaya!

Pinoy Idol Final 9 - 'Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez as Mentor' Week 4 07/12/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez's Week

Who owned the night?

Jayann Bautista with Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Sue Ellen

Gretchen Espina

Daryl Celis

Gretchen's Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang reminded me of AI7's Kristy Lee Cook on her attempt to make 8 Days A Week a country song, but this time, she twisted it to sound acoustic. And yes, it sounded awful. Sue again makes a mistake while performing - what a shame. Daryl just can't perform at par with the others no matter what he does, and no matter how loud his fans cheer for him.

THOUGHTS:

The editing really is a crap! Who is the editor here? Minamadali nyo ang show, nawawalan ng saysay. And please! The lights! Ang dami-dami! Tinatalo ang kagandahan ng background visuals - sayang! And again, why was Rhian there?

Ogie and Wyngard still gives unbiased comments that is deserved by each hopefuls - yet again, Jolina remains the biggest joke of this show, and there she goes again with the irritating remark "winner". Regine was there, trying hard not to be too harsh for everyone because it's her week - which actually went ok.

Fanbase is really growing, but the show's improvement paces slowly and slowly, thanks to the director I guess. And yes, this attempt to have our own Mariah Carey week wasn't that successful.

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Daryl Celis

Warren Antig

Sue Ellen

For the past weeks, Warren and Sue are becoming mediocre in terms of their performances. Warren, can't you sing any other genre besides rock? And Sue, you murdered again another song! C'mon! And again, Daryl had a lackluster performance.

THOUGHTS:

The show has improved, but Mr. Ignacio, what's with the editing now?! Gosh! Bumabalik na naman yung problem sa show when it first aired the performance episodes - minamadali! Halatang-halata ang cuts! Do something about it - and yes, with the lights as well. And what was Karylle doing there? She didn't do any help.

Last week, Jolina was very kind as of judging each Idol hopeful's performance, she all gave them props. But this time, the bitch is back - bitching Wyngard above all. But that's good, hindi sya mukhang plastik.

Fans can now be really seen raving at the audience while their bets are singing on stage, and shouts while a judge says his/her harsh critic - an Idol classic! The fan-base of Pinoy Idol is really growing.

Pinoy Idol Final 11 - "Song Dedication" Week 2 06/28/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: Song Dedication

Who owned the night?

Ram Chaves with Banal Na Aso

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Sue Ellen

Warren Antig

Daryl Celis

If performance were the real basis of the viewers, then these 3 shouldn't be allowed to continue their so-called Idol journey anymore. For heaven's sake Sue! Why did you sing Linkin Park's In The End? Learn to choose wisely dear.. Warren and Daryl doesn't improve at all - and come on Ogie! The latter's no Dingdong Avanzado.

THOUGHTS:

I have been stressing this one for the nth time - please do something with the lights! Damn! It's just all over the place! Nasasayang ang ganda ng set at ang performance ng contestants! And why are they showcasing the stairs? It looks dirty..

Since the competition began, Jolina has been harsh in commenting than Ogie. Tonight, she never gave any bitter comments at all! C'mon! Trying to be like Paula Abdul? No way..

Pinoy Idol Final 12 - Elimination Results 06/22/08

Who were in the bottom group?

Kid Camaya

Jeni Rawolle

Sue Ellen

Whose Idol journey has ended?

Top 12 - Jeni Rawolle - Inseparable

THOUGHTS

This has been the smoothest results show for Pinoy Idol since it started. But I still question the lighting! For heaven's sake! Be smart on using the lights to have an effect and dramatize the scenario! And what's with the pillows for the seats? Eww.

I was surprised enough that none of my predictions to be in the bottom three wasn't called tonight. And I'm surprised as well that Jeni was the one who leaves the show for good and be the first to go in the Final 12 - she has been inconsistently good, but still good than some of the finalists. The biggest surprise was - of course - Daryl still survives for another week! Crap!

Pinoy Idol Final 12 - "My Greatest Performance" Week 1 06/21/08

Who among these hopefuls will be the first Pinoy Idol?

Theme: My Greatest Performance

Who owned the night?

Mae Flores with You Oughta Know

Who might be in the bottom 3?

Daryl Celis

Gretchen Espina

Warren Antig

I predict that these three would be in the bottom three on the results show tomorrow night because they all had lackluster performances. Gretchen did not give justice to her rendition of Respect, Warren couldn't somehow show any other side rather than being a rocker, and Daryl simply gave the weakest vocal prowess.

THOUGHTS:

Now that the Final 12 has a new home (SM MoA's CenterStage), the competition gets tougher - and the show, I must say, really improves. I commend the big venue and the oh-so-delicious stage! Bumawi talaga from their previous studio. The background visuals are seen bigger this time - that's a plus. Audio-wise, it improved; lighting, still needs improvement.

The Final 12 had a mad vocal performance during the opening number! Fantastic!

With regards to the voting process, I was shocked. From the start of the show till 12 noon the following day? C'mon!
