Imperfect
They say, a mere picture can paint a thousand words – really huh?
I was actually born and raised as a simple child, a typical Filipino boy who awakes early in the morning, sleeps after lunch, plays outside in the afternoon, goes home at exactly 6:00 PM, and spends the rest of the night with my family at home. That set up suited me for years.
As my physique grew and my personality developed, I became aware of the number one question of most, likely all, of the people I know: why isn’t life perfect? Then I began questioning myself more about what I have been doing, what I have done, and what I would do. Seeking for the answers became my next move.
I began observing myself and the environment surrounding me. Little did I know that the search I was doing essentially became my eye-opener. Bit by bit, I realized that life really isn’t supposed to be perfect – and that the perfection only comes once you learn to appreciate everything you are and everything you are in.
Every one of us has our own little ways of appreciating life. And as for me, I consider taking pictures as the simplest form of appreciation. I admit – I am vain. How vain am I? Well, for the simple fact that I am not ashamed to take pictures of myself wherever I may be. Capturing moments worth remembering is my primary reason for being like that. I take pictures to capture that significant second of my life and confine it to be remembered on the coming future. I take pictures – I appreciate life.
But there’s a thing I’ve learned in my past college years that changed my view of life’s appreciation. I was introduced to the magnificent world of photo editing. I was mesmerized as my eyes feasted upon the information and sample works presented in the class. I couldn’t believe what I saw, and so I hungered for more. The craving continued until I realized that through photo editing, you can appreciate life more – and even make it somehow perfect.
So I challenged myself to learn more, to explore more – and I did. I spent hundreds of sleepless nights, pouring all my creative juices in front of my computer whenever we were tasked to do something that relates to photo editing. As time passed by, editing became my hobby – and the exploration grew from photo editing to audio and video. From then on, I have been presenting one of the best, if not the best, outputs in our class, may it be in photo, audio, or video editing. I became my own master of this craft I have grown to love.
Now that I am a graduate, I consider myself ready and armed with skills to face the so-called real world. I want to spend my first work experience in this company, the Picture Company, because I know that my passion for editing will heighten here. Through here, I could experience more and explore more the many doors of photo editing. Lastly, I will have the chance to enhance and share my professional skills as a whole.
But I will look at it this way, I want to spend my first work experience in this company, the Picture Company, because I know that my passion about life will grow here. Through here, I could experience more and explore more the many ways of appreciating life. And lastly, I will have the chance to enhance my simple ways of making life somehow perfect with appreciation and by sharing this thought to all. In an imperfect life, there is appreciation; and in appreciation, there is life.
Now, who says a mere picture can’t paint a thousand words?
