Ellen DeGeneres as Idol's new judge?!

Yes, yes. After Paula left the show, Ellen sits as the fourth and newest judge.
My view: sick!

American Idol September 10 at 2:11pm Report

Emmy Award-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has joined AMERICAN IDOL as a fourth judge. DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition.

The ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL premieres January 2010 on FOX. DeGeneres will join the judges’ panel after the auditions, which will feature appearances by guest judges Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain.

“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on AMERICAN IDOL,” said DeGeneres. ”I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”

“I could not be more excited to have Ellen join the AMERICAN IDOL family,” said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel. I can’t wait for this next season to begin.”

“We’re all delighted to have Ellen join our ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL,” said executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. “Beyond her incredible sense of humor and love of music, she brings with her an immense warmth and compassion that is almost palpable. She is one of America’s foremost entertainers, and we cannot wait to have her join our team.”

Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment for FOX added, “We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres join the AMERICAN IDOL judges’ table this season. She is truly one of America’s funniest people and a fantastic performer who understands what it’s like to stand up in front of audiences and entertain them every day. We feel that her vast entertainment experience – combined with her quick wit and passion for music – will add a fresh new energy to the show.”

A beloved television icon and entertainment pioneer, DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. DeGeneres has made a home for herself in the daytime arena with her hit syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” The show, now entering its seventh season, won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host four years in a row and has earned a total of 29 Daytime Emmy Awards.

The Dragonfly on the Rope

Funny how at times people tend to realize something through the simplest of things.

Just before I headed home this morning, I passed by the nearest mall in our town to buy some stuffs. Upon leaving the place, I saw the most unlikely thing there is: a dragonfly. It was peacefully resting on a rope divider in the middle of the busy street.

Memories suddenly flashed back in my mind—I remembered my carefree childhood days wherein we used to chase and catch dragonflies for past time in our village/school. Though I’m actually an Entomophobic (I fear ALL insects), I pretended back then that I loved touching the tiny wings of those poor little creatures.

After a few seconds of going back time, the realization poured.

Thanks to the dragonfly, I once again understood and remembered how important it is to shrug off things: that it is never right to pressure oneself just to fit the society; and that it is always right to think calmly without compromising one’s social acceptance. Thanks to that carefree childhood memory, I missed being free: that it is never right to feel halfhearted happiness; and that it is always right to embrace youthfulness with a mature state of mind.

As my jeepney ride went off, the dragonfly just sat there—it remained calm. Not even the busy street hindered its peaceful stance. That scene left a smirk on my face and a smile in my heart—I’m me, and no one can ever shake me.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy
Dark and dramatic—a right mixture for the 6th installment of the Harry Potter series. But if you happen to have loved Order of the Phoenix because it showcased wand action at its finest, then you might be a bit disappointed with Half-Blood Prince.

I was actually expecting to see a lot since they have already prolonged the agony of waiting for this movie, but it somehow left me hanging on its ending—why oh why David Yates?! Okay, I understand the fact that HBP should be less extravagant than the coming two-part 7th installment, but the shortage of wand action here needs to be pointed out. I still commend the makers though for creating it in such a way that even non-readers would easily understand the whole story.

The casts, especially the grown-up teens, were really impressive. They gave drama and laughter with conviction, good thing they’ve improved so much. And by the way, Ginny’s now HOT—but Hermione’s still HOTTER!

Of course, visual effects and musical score did their thing. My IMAX experience (though only the first 15 minutes were in 3D) was really breathtaking! One particular scene where it really touched me was the “wands all out” part—I felt the pain, in a good way.

All in all, I can still boast that this is the franchise to beat. The darker side of the Potter series is now loved by all: no more kiddie stuff. Serious, enthralling, enigmatic—visual orgasm!

Don’t be a coward, fight back and watch! Sectumsempra!

On the Eve of the First Month…

Counting the days, it’s now exactly a month since I wrote the letter. Though I don’t want to be shocked nor be ashamed about it, the past couple of weeks have been considerably my lowest low as a human being.

I still stick to one thing though, I don’t abhor that person. But then again as I reminisce our so-called precious moments, something twitches in my brain and says that I have been naïve since the very first day. I know it looks stupid, but can I help myself? Can I stop myself from falling? Or should I say, can I just stop myself from loving?

About fifteen minutes before midnight tonight, I saw that very person again: in the same spot where we used to hang out—apparently, with someone new(?).

My heart ached for a second or two; my mind slapped me hard on my face.

Let’s just touch the bittersweet reality: I still love that person, that person still doesn’t love me, and maybe, we’re not meant to be.

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Rating:★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Animation
As I’ve expected, it wasn’t as funny and touching as the first one.

The attempt on focusing the story once again to family’s love for one another was a bit off on this third installment. I’m not questioning the writer’s point of view, but IMHO, it lacked depth.

But as always, Sid and the little guy/thing (the one who always chases the nut) were the breath of fresh air. It may not be as hilarious as the first one, but they somehow left the same smirk on my face like when I was so into watching Ice Age over and over before.

Still for kids, but not for the kids-at-heart anymore if you ask me.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy
No, this is not your ordinary type of revenge—it’s revenge personified, or should I say, robotized.

Megan Fox was scorching hot than ever, while Shia displayed a very disgusting and a very disturbing possessed state. Yes, comic relief was then again served in this sequel, but it somehow crossed the line.

The tandem of Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg is still unstoppable. Though some parts had obvious visual effects, it can still brag that this movie is the new face of sci-fi films in this era. Musical score was a bit superhero-like oftentimes. Bay’s signature light/sunburst effect (whatever you may call it) was lessened here as the story attempted to jump from less drama to more comedy, to somehow balance the whole film.

Was it worth it? Yes. Did it surpass its prequel? I don’t think so. But the depth of the story is one thing moviegoers shouldn’t miss here—and yes, they better believe that there’s still more than meets the eye.

A Love Letter for Someone

3:02AM, 14 June 2009—I found pieces of crumpled paper somewhere near where I’m sitting now. Instinct told me to pick them up. So I did. Now as it rest in my hands, one by one I peeked through its icky pages where water and ink seemed to have met for a reason.

“Should I skim or read thoroughly?”, I asked myself. Instinct this time told me to read them—all.

Dear YOU,

Tonight’s drama has been the worst since I’ve known how to care for someone. Still, I don’t despise you. Instead, I AM LOVING YOU MORE.

You said you don’t want me to pursue this nonsense feeling anymore because it’s unfair for my part, that you’re not worthy of the love I’m giving, and I don’t deserve you; that you don’t want me to end up like your ex-lovers who only suffered from the haphazard commitment you gave; that you’re concerned of my future where you said you already foresaw and concluded that I will be hurt—I fully understand all of them. But the fact that you wholeheartedly told me every single thing you did has already changed my view: you already saved me from being hurt badly—that only means you’re no longer unfair, you’re really worthy of loving, and I deserve someone like you; that also means there’s a mere chance of preventing history from repeating itself; and the fact that you’re concerned already concludes that you’ll be worth the pain.

I am very willing to fight for what I believe, because at the end of the day, it’s still you whom I’m fighting for. I have my full trust in you, and I’m not gonna let this hinder our chances of being happy together soon.

Please, you know what I ask for.

Loving you more and still waiting,
V

P.S.
Always smile, you look good when you do.

“And that’s it.”, I said to myself. Come to think of it, this is a love letter meant for someone. I wonder who wrote it and to whom.

Now as I take off my shirt to prepare myself to sleep(?), I found something on the left side of my chest—it’s icky, it’s liquid and ink. 3:38AM, 14 June 2009.

Busted

Nothing more to say.

Who's your American Idol?

Who is your American Idol?

Kris Allen

 11

Adam Lambert

 13

Okay, the judges - and me - were wrong with the prediction for the final 2 this season (Gokey-Lambert for the finale.). Again, my Idol curse is back. WTF. However, I'm still hoping that the final bout would be as wonderful as last year's.

So, who's your bet this time?

Is it the charming, soft-spoken, underrated talent of Kris Allen? Or the predictable, screeching, overrated mad vocal skills of Adam Lambert? If you ask me, well... just listen intently to the music playing on this page.

Gokey gone; Allen–Lambert on finale

Danny Gokey was an early favorite on this year’s Idol competition. Loved by the judges and America through his master class vocal skills and humble story, Gokey has been considered as one of the best ever to join the show and was one of this season’s front-runners. Since day one, he managed to showcase his husky, sexy range and swagger and has produced one of the best (if not the best) and worst performances in the entire contest; his Dream On rendition is still making the buzz. Though he has never been in the bottom group, Danny only finished third and was voted out tonight. After over 88 million votes, America decided that Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will battle it out on the finale next week. Kris Allen, the soft-spoken, charming lad from Arkansas is expected to sing his heart – and lungs – out to nail the competition and in order to beat the ever-surprising and screeching vocal prowess of Adam Lambert from San Diego. Idol declares who will win this year’s crown next week on its two-part season finale.

American Idol Top 3: Kris Allen - Heartless

This is probably one of the best performance this season - artistry is in!
This daring attempt to innovate such a lame song is extraordinary.
And yes, as horrible as it sounds, it's way better than the original!
Good luck Kris!

\m/

American Idol Top 3: Danny Gokey - You Are So Beautiful

What a very classy performance!
Vocals were superb - totally in control.
This proves that Danny deserves to be in the finale!

Allison’s axed

Dubbed by Simon Cowell as the last hope of the girls for this season, 17 year old Allison Iraheta leaves the Idol stage tonight. Iraheta was the last girl standing in the competition because of her incredible vocal ability and authenticity. Though her artistry shines whenever she graces the stage, the judges seem to find that she lacks personality and drive and that somehow has lead her on being in the bottom group for a couple of weeks. This true-blooded rocker has finished fourth in this year’s competition.

American Idol Top 4: Adam Lambert - Whole Lotta Love

This is indeed his week.
Exceptional.
Bravo!

Matt’s rollercoaster is over

Considered as the hopeful with the most rollercoaster-like journey ever in the Idol competition, Matt Giraud was finally sent home. After gracing the stage with his rendition of My Funny Valentine on yesterday’s Rat Pack themed night, the four judges were in duets for their criticisms – having Simon Cowell on his side. However, even the praise coming from Cowell didn’t save Giraud this time as America decided to finally send him home.

American Idol Top 5: Danny Gokey - Come Rain Come Shine

I've been waiting for ages for him to really stand out and knock my feet off the ground - finally!
Mad vocals, interesting song choice and excellent, classy performance.
For me, he's still the one to beat.

Idol’s double elimination drama

Since the judges saved Matt Giraud from going home last week, two hopefuls were sent home on tonight’s result show, having a record of 45 million votes.

Lil Rounds, who has been considered as one of the front-runners of this season, was axed first. For some weeks the judges have been pointing out her fading sense of artistry and individuality, but this outspoken mom never failed to answer back in her most sincere manner. Her big voice wasn’t enough to prove her worth of winning the coveted title.

One of the most surprisingly talented hopefuls on this pack was Anoop Desai, who managed to crush Sanjaya’s lackluster ability to pull off a show. However, this young man was the second one sent home tonight. His inconsistency when it comes to right song choice and performance has landed him on the bottom group for quite some time – and now he’s gone.

American Idol Top 7 (Again): Kris Allen - She Works Hard For The Money

What a brilliant performance!
Though I still don't get why some of them tweaked the should've been up-tempo night, Kris really wowed me.
With him, I feel like watching David Cook meets Jason Mraz meets Jason Castro - originality, cool vocal ability and to-die-for charm!
Great, great, great!

Good news for Giraud

The coveted save from the four judges has been made history through Matt Giraud. It’s an Idol first since the show began 8 years ago, but this good news has a tricky twist for the coming week because 2 shall go home.

Giraud has been a constant favorite since his audition days, but has been having rough weeks for proclaiming himself as a true-blood rock star rather than what the judges think he is as an artist. Having a vocal ability that is a cross-over between R&B and Jazz, this young lad captivated millions and is surely one threat in this competition

Thursday, April 16, 2009

American Idol Top 7: Allison Iraheta - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

This is the first time I've seen a girl rocking this song out - unbelievable!
Mad phrasing, exceptional vocal ability; this young girl can really blow notes!
Fantastic!

T2

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Horror
Thanks to Maricel Soriano’s acting prowess and Chito Roño’s creative eye for directing horror flicks, the movie was somehow saved from mediocrity.

I was really ecstatic just by the mere idea of having a horror movie where Roño teams up with Star Cinema again – but T2 didn’t fulfill my high expectations. Pinoy folklore is indeed one of the richest in Asia, so why settle for Engkanto’s for the nth time? The story and dialog was commendable, but the sudden plunge into the other world was really corny.

Massive ghost appearances were highlights, but not the surprise guest/s – who actually helped cross the line between horror and/to comedy; hands down for Soriano for pulling it through until the end.

Over all, a must-see – but don’t expect that much.

Naknamput!

The journey is over for Scott

Visually impaired Scott MacIntyre’s Idol journey is indeed one of the most heart-warming in the show’s history – a proof that talent surpasses everything. An early favorite, MacIntyre wowed the judges and America through his passionate and honest delivery of performing alongside the piano, but this week’s surprise electric guitar ensemble didn’t put him through to the Top 7. The judges had a hard time on whether he should be saved or not, and in the end, Simon Cowell announced that his journey is indeed over.

Even though the last note was shaky, vocal control was really mad!

Megan flies home

After blurting out “I love you, but I don’t care” to Simon Cowell regarding the latter’s comment last night, Megan Joy was the one sent home by America. The judges didn’t even discuss on saving her for her ridiculous comment. Clearly, she has been one of the most current and relevant competitors this season and one of the few unique ones in Idol history respectively, but her song choices over the past weeks made her mediocre and less Idol-like. On the positive note, she never stopped injecting her personality and taste on each of her performances, so this early favorite soared up to the Top 9.

Breaking Dawn

No, this is not a Twilight-related post.

This was a rough day for me. Aside from the fact that I’m feeling a bit sick [not again!] now, a lot has happened earlier which involved a great rush of both negative and positive emotions.

In Makati this afternoon, it finally dawned on me that I suck in MS Office applications particularly MS Excel. To worsen the feeling, Adobe Illustrator was as hell as Excel.

In Muntinlupa just this night, a long-lost friend for 4 years suddenly popped out of nowhere.

And that’s it, stressful…

Earth Hour: Philippines had the most cities going dark

I just read this news from a co-Plurker, and since I'm proud to have participated saving Mother Earth I've decided to share this lovely news to all proud Pinoys who wasn't afraid of the dark - who turned off their lights and turned on a much brighter future.

EARTH HOUR
Philippines had the most cities going dark
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 03:24:00 03/29/2009

MANILA, Philippines — It was lights out at exactly 8:30 Saturday night in Makati City, as well as in most parts of the Philippines, as the city switched off electricity power for one hour in solidarity with 2,397 cities and towns in 83 countries all over the world to observe Earth Hour, a global activity to raise awareness of climate change and global warming.

Yeb Sano of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in the Philippines (WWF) said the Philippines had the most number of cities and towns participating in the event. Hours before the countdown, he told Inquirer that a total of 647 cities and municipalities around the country had pledged to sign up for Earth Hour.

Ranked a distant second was Greece, with 484 cities and towns, followed by Australia with 309, Canada with 273 and the United States with 270.

As Earth Hour’s Official Flagship City in the Philippines, Makati led the country in observing the event, with the designated Earth Hour ambassador, Mayor Jejomar Binay, representatives of WWF and other environmental groups leading the countdown to the ceremonial switch-off at Tower One on Ayala Avenue, the heart of the country’s financial district.

“The city’s observance of Earth Hour is another testament to Makati’s wholehearted commitment to the global crusade to save our environment,” Binay said before the switch-off.

“The sight of various stakeholders — from the city’s ‘barangay’ [neighborhood districts], schools, civic-oriented and religious groups, the business community, led by the Ayala conglomerate, the diplomatic corps — gathered here for a singular purpose, clearly shows how seriously committed we all are. What we will do might seem a simple act. But this act done simultaneously in households and establishments in cities all over the nation and the world, when taken altogether, can make a tangible impact on global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

As sirens from fire trucks and police cars wailed and church bells rang on cue, street lights in the city’s principal roads and electricity in all public buildings were turned off. Business establishments like restaurants and fun venues dimmed their lights to express their support.

Launched in Australia in 2007, Earth Hour is a global event involving the voluntary shut-off of electricity in homes, offices, public places and commercial establishments for one hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in all time zones to express support for environmental issues.

“The local response was astonishing,” said WWF’s Sano. Provinces from Cagayan in the north to Sulu and Tawi-Tawi in the south expressed their intention to participate, making it the largest environment-themed event in the country, he said, adding that their target was to save 500 megawatts [of electricity], or the equivalent of shutting down 10 coal-fired power plants, for one hour.”

After Earth Hour, what next?

“When the lights are back, we should think about switching onto a more sustainable future,” Sano said.

“Earth Hour is really a symbolic act,” he said. “We should be practicing energy conservation and environmental consciousness every day, and in any way we can. In our own simple way, each of us can contribute to being more conscious about our impact on the environment, and how much we could save on electricity and water.”

With the hoopla over, Sano said he hoped citizens would have “a brand new relationship with the true entity that gives us true light, and that is Mother Nature.” Alcuin Papa

Britney Spears fansite [forced] to close!

If you have been a fan of the legendary Ms. Spears since day one, then probably you can name at least 5 fansites about her; and if you can, I'm pretty sure you know WorldOfBritney.com (WoB) and what it has been through.

Recently BreatheHeavy.com (BH), claimed nowadays as Britney's number 1 fansite, has released a statement regarding the site's forced closure. Below is a complete copy of Jordan Miller's (site owner) press release. I'm still 50/50 about believing this one since Jordan used to do some April Fool's joke - I'm an avid reader of this site for years; but if this happens to be real, then f*ck Jamie Spears and all the conservatorship crap! Oh well, be the judge.

BREATHEHEAVY.COM FORCED TO CLOSE
27 Mar 2009, by Jordan Miller

Dear BreatheHeavy readers,

I, Jordan Miller, Owner & Webmaster of BreatheHeavy.com and BritneyRes.com, want to thank you with all my heart for the loyalty and support you’ve shown over the last 5 years BreatheHeavy has been open.

We are all here for one purpose: to support the icon of our generation, Britney Spears, and to continuously stick by her through the good and bad.

I have been battling the conservatorship Britney is currently placed under for months now. When I did not conform to the requests and demands Britney’s management and father, Jamie Spears, recently put upon BreatheHeavy to stay quiet, they in turn became angry and malicious, launching, what I feel is an unjust attack, against me and my website.

As a result, I received a legal notice from Jamie Spears’ lawyers pressuring me to close BreatheHeavy.com by 3:00 p.m. PST today, March 27, 2009, or face an injunction, claiming they will pursue legal action by Jamie Spears, who, as a conservator, is legally allowed to act as Britney and sue using her money and lawyers.

“Britney doesn’t control her affairs,” said Brad Rose, the lawyer representing Britney in this case in a telephone conversation.

“You are an uber fan who’s gone a little too far.”

The legal notice states BreatheHeavy is not in compliance of Copyright Infringement laws, violating Britney’s rights of publicity and privacy:
quote:

"The Infringing Sites are replete with willful, unauthorized and unlawful use and/or exploitation of: (i) the copyrighted lyrics to songs written and/or recorded by Ms. Spears; (ii) Ms. Spears's trademarked name, (iii) various video and audio recordings embodying the performances of Ms. Spears; and (iv) photographic images of Ms. Spears (owned or exclusively licensed to third parties by Ms. Spears).

The unauthorized use of these recordings, images, copyrighted works and trademarks constitutes actionable infringement under, inter alia, copyright and trademark law, and also violates Ms. Spears's rights of publicity and privacy."

"Ms. Spears will pursue damages and injunctive relief in connection with the blatant violation of her rights of publicity and privacy."

The real issue, in my opinion, is hidden behind these Copyright Infringement claims, rather management, particularly her father / conservator, Jamie Spears, who makes $18,000 a month off his daughter, is desperately trying to hide the truth about Britney’s imprisonment, and shut anyone up who disagrees with their conniving and selfish exploitation of an innocent mother of 2 pushed back into the lime-light just several months after a hospitalization.

Another issue the lawyers claim aside from “Copyright Infringement,” is the use Britney’s trademarked name and image, stating I am not allowed to use her name or picture except for editorial and hard news purposes only.

Additionally, the Google and TicketMaster ads placed around the website are a “major issue,” stating I am using Britney’s name and image for financial gain without her consent.

BreatheHeavy.com is a non-profitable website, meaning I, nor anyone, makes a PROFIT off the website. The ads used help the website remain self-sustainable, and if there is a profit made, the funds, in return, are used to purchase magazine scans and other materials needed for the website.

Am I crazy and naive for running a major website that leaves me in debt each month? Possibly, but BreatheHeavy is my passion, a creative outlet that has allowed me to grow as an individual.

Britney Spears is my inspiration; I can’t put a price on that.

Though I made very clear to the attorneys that BreatheHeavy is a non-profitable website, it is of no concern of theirs.

This entire site thrives because of YOU, the fans, who support Britney by buying tickets to her show, merchandise and music. Sadly, your hard-earned money that goes to supporting your favorite celebrity, is now money being used to potentially sue me, a major fan and supporter of Britney Spears, and hide fans from knowing the TRUTH.

This conservatorship Britney is placed under, which controls every aspect of her life, is now clenching the future of her biggest Fansite.

I’m prepared to fight, but I need to know that you guys are willing to fight with me.

I desperately need your help.

BreatheHeavy.com costs a minimum of $350.00 a month to run. Because I am not allowed to use ads to run the website any longer, as I am “using Britney Spears’s image for financial profit,” I am asking readers to donate money until the situation has been handled.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I know with the support of fans and readers, this unjust bullying will come to an end, and one day Jamie Spears’ reign over his daughter, her money, lawyers, career and life will cease.

Please understand this is NOT my decision, and I am being FORCED to take desperate measures in an effort to save this website and stand up for what is right.

BreatheHeavy will remain up in the air until a resolution with her management, lawyers and father has been reached, if ever.

“I will destroy your ass,” threatened Jamie Spears to me in a telephone conversation.

This is not the end.

Love,
Jordan Miller, Owner & Webmaster of BreatheHeavy.com
